Could Recent Bladder And Colon Issues Be Related To My Colonoscopy Nearly A Year Ago?

I had a colonoscopy almost a year ago and have had several problems since including bladder and colon problems that never existed previously. I am 76 and very active. I have had 2 babies almost 10 lbs and a partial hysterectomy years ago with no trouble whatso ever. Now I can hardly contain my colon or bladder at all. Never had this problem before this last test. I have had the test before with no problem at all.

Hello,

It's unlikely for bladder and colon issues to appear almost a year after a colonoscopy. Colonoscopies are generally safe. During the procedure if colonoscopy identified polyps, or any other issue, it's possible those underlying conditions have progressed, potentially affecting your bladder or colon function. If pelvic floor muscles were affected by stress, strain, or other conditions, you could experience symptoms in both areas.

If conditions like IBS or inflammatory bowel disease go undiagnosed it may worsen over time and could contribute to both bladder and bowel symptoms. Get clinically examined by a GP, get all the required investigations done. Also, get urinalysis or bladder imaging tests done to rule out UTIs or structural issues. A follow-up colonoscopy or imaging study (e.g., CT scan) might help assess colon health.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
