Could Regular Alcohol Consumption Causes Pigmentation On Face?
Hi, i am 32 years of age,i am an asian origin and i am from Nagaland, india , my skin colour is pretty fair from my neck down but my face is dark and dark patchy(like pigmentation),i drink like almost all night(a quarter to half a bottle of Alcohol)) but i don't smoke and i use some tobacco every day (which is very common in India) Coul'd this be the reason that my face is getting darker?
I am Dr. Neel Kudchadkar and I will help you with this problem. Thanks for using www.healthcaremagic.com
Alcohol definitely causes darkening of the face. This is because when alcohol is consumed, it is converted to a chemical called acetaldehyde, this causes the blood supply to certain parts of your face to increase, in patches. This is reversible and will go away the moment you stop drinking alcohol.
I suggest you join AA support group to stop drinking. There are also other ways to stop drinking, or lessen drinking.
