Could Severe Pain In Upper Arm While Being On Methotrexate And Plaquenil While Having RA And Fibromyalgia Be A Side Effect?
I am diagnose with RA and they think I have Fibromyagia. I also have a Thyroid condition. I take methotrexate and plaque nil. I have been on these drugs for over a year. I recently have been experiencing upper arm pain. I thought I sprained it, but it s going on two months and it s not getting any better. It only hurts when I move it certain ways, then it s very painful. Is this a side affect from Plaquenil?
Both methotrexate and plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) usually doesn't produce such kind of pain. If it is hurting only when you have moments in a certain direction, then sprain of muscles or ligaments need to be looked into. You can consult an orthopedician for the same. You may be prescribed a muscle relaxant along with pain relievers. If the symptoms does not improve after that, it can be treated as fibromyalgia. Do get adequate treatment for your thyroid condition. It helps in reducing the fatigue associated with fibromyalgia. I hope the above information helps you. Thanks for writing into healthcaremagic. Have a wonderful day.
