Could Spotting After Zoladex Cessation Indicate Pregnancy Or Lingering Side Effects?
Hi, pleasant good day. I m 7 months off the zoladex implant (which from my understanding supposed to last for 3 months - with no period). 4 days ago I started spotting, it got a little heavier with cramping on the second day and stopped on the 3rd day. No more cramping or blood. Could i be pregnant or is this still the side effects from stopping the zoladex.
Use effective non-hormonal (barrier) birth control during treatment. You should continue to use it for at least 12 weeks after treatment ends. Tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant during treatment or after it. Get clinically examined by a gynecologist.
You shouldn't use Zoladex during pregnancy. Zoladex treatment cessation can also cause breakthrough bleeding. Get urine or blood test for pregnancy done. Your treating doctor can ask you to get ultrasonography done to detect pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy or any other factor that may be causing you symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
