Could Stomach Ache, Shivering And Vomiting Be Food Poisoning?
my son has a cold with stuffy nose since last evening. Tonight he complained of stomach ache...and subsequently vomited...he had been shivering of extreme cold despite being covered with blankets and the thermometer showing 99.6 degrees F. what is the recommended diet to be followed. is this just indigestion or food poisoning?
Yes, the symptoms can be related to food poisoning. Some advice that I can give to you are: - Avoid food for the first few hours as your stomach settles down. - Drink water, broth, or an electrolyte solution, which will replace the minerals that you lose with vomiting - Eat when you feel ready, but start with small amounts of bland, nonfatty foods such as toast, rice, and crackers. - Get plenty of rest. - Take acetaminophen for the fever
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
