Could Taking Antidepressants Affect Sexual Health?

My partner has moderate/severe anxiety, which can strike at any time for no reason. This is affecting our sex life. He can see that this is affecting me and has offered to go on antidepressants. I understand that antidepressants can also cause sexual dysfunction. What do I do?

Dear User,

Thanks for using health care magic.

It is true that many of the antidepressants particularly SSRI group of medications affect libido, desire and orgasm both directly and indirectly.
Please be informed that it does not mean everyone who receive antidepressant will be affected. With different kind of antidepressant the percentage of affected patient varies from 10-40%.

For dealing with these kind of side effects talk to your doctor before hand so he will prescribe a medication with least sexual side effects.

'Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help".

Thanks
