Could Tender Feeling In Lower Abdominal Area Be Due To The Side Effect Of Taking Cortisone Injection?
i had cortisone injections in each knee 8 days ago. for the last 5 days I have had gut trouble-nothing sounds good to eat and feel tender in my lower abdominal area. pharmacist said to take tums but they don t help. could the shots have caused this?
Hello, the cortisone injections you mentioned are not significantly absorbed and are not supposed to have systemic effects or side-effects. Cortisone wouldn't usually cause this kind of symptoms anyway. Lower abdominal discomfort can be caused by a lot of diseases or syndromes including irritable bowel syndrome, gastroenteritis etc. If the symptoms you mentioned are not getting better then you need a clinical examination and evaluation. Did your doctor give you any other medication like non-steroidal-anti-inflammatory-drugs (NSAID)? Other drugs can cause this kind of symptoms including NSAID and their usual 'companions' ranitidine or omeprazole or similar drugs. Kind Regards!
