Could The Antibiotics And Steroids Be The Cause For High Liver Enzymes?
MY DOCTOR SWITCHED ME TO CRESTOR 6 MONTHS AGO. FOR FOUR YEARS I HAVE NEVER HAD LIVER ENZYMES HIGH. nOW THEY ARE ELEVATED. WAITING 6 WEEKS AND WAS RETESTED. DURING THE LAST 6 WEEKS I BECAME SICK. WEEK BEFORE TEST I WAS ON ANTIBIOTICS, STERIODS AND BENZONATATE. NOW WAS LIVER ENZYMES ARE HIGH. I AM HAVING AN ULTRASOUND TODAY AND AM REALLY SCARED. COULD THE DRUGS HAVE DONE THIS?
Sometimes it can happen that few antibiotics and steroids can raise the liver enzymes, but when taken fr long term.
If the raise is significant, drugs may not be the cause. The diagnosis depends on other tests as well. You can get back to me with the ultrasound report.
Hope this helps
Best Regards
Dr Chaithanya
