Could The Black Line On Tongue Be Thrush?

I have a black line down the middle of my tongue, about a 1/2 inch wide. My doctor thinks its thrush. How do I get rid of it and what are the causes of it? He prescribed tablets to suck on. I did it for several months but it didn t go away. Can you shed some light on this for me. Thank you very much.

hello. It is caused by too much bacteria or yeast growth in the mouth.. Instead of shedding as they normally do, the papillae start to grow and lengthen, creating hair-like projections. Practicing good oral hygiene is the best way to treat. Brush your tongue.use a tongue scraper to make sure you're thoroughly cleaning the area. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help keep your mouth clean. quit smoking. Add more roughage to your diet. If it doesnt subside plz consult a oral medicine r general physician specialist..hp it helps..tc.thanks for consulting at hcm..
