Could The Blood In Urine Test Be Due To Uterine Fibroid?
I am 45 years with a 3.5 cms fibroid on the outer wall of my uterus. a routine urine test showed blood in the urine. the test was done a week after my periods. Could the blood in the urine be due to the fibroid? I also have hypothyroidism and am on eltroxin. I take aztor 5mg for cholestrol . the blood in the urine is worrying me otherwise I feel fine.
Hi, Welcome to Healthcare Magic. I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns. The blood in urine is not due to fibroids. Heavy exercise also can sometimes cause blood in urine. So first repeat the test to confirm this finding of blood in urine. The most common cause for blood in urine is urinary tract infection. So consult doctor and first get a urine culture sensitivity test done. If infection is ruled out your doctor will assess for other causes of blood in urine. The other causes for blood in urine are: 1. Kidney stones 2.Kidney diseases like glomerulonephritis 3. Blood thinning medicines like aspirin 4. Very rarely it can be due to serious disease like cancer.
Since blood in urine is not a normal finding, it is important to consult doctor. I hope this is helpful.
