Could The Continuous Erection Be Due To Kidney Stone Or Medication?

I am 46 male, just had my appendix out and now am going in to get a kidney stone removed. I completed all my antibiotics and now am only taking Tamsulosin 0.4 MG capsules. I have had preipism in the past when I took a sleeping pill of my wifes. I am in the same position now with an erection lasting from about 3:00 this morning until 12:00 noon right now. Could the medication (flow max cause this) or could it be from my Kidney Stone? I am drinking massive amounts of water to try to remedy this but it does not seem to be getting better

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Please go to emergency room right away. tamsulosin is not known to cause priapism but some psychiatric meds, cocaine, and viagra are known to cause priapism. this is an emergency that needs to addressed right away. At ED, they will provide a penile injection (phenylephrine) after irrigating. For many cases, these measure reverse the priapism but it may not. time is money- please act fast.
