Could The Delayed Periods Be Due To Stress?

My period came after 24 days last month and was due early the past week but has not arrived yet. I could not be pregnant. I have been under a lot of stress in the last few months what is the cause of this. I felt all week that it was on the way any day as I had pain etc but no period.

Hi.
I've gone through your query and I can understand your anxiety.

Your history says you were under stressful days. Stress plays a major role in pushing your regular cycles into irregular & fluctuating one, which means it occur either early or late or sometimes disappear.

Because it affects hormone balance and other processes in the body, psychological stress is  considered to be the common cause of missed or late or early  menstrual periods.

I advice you to test your hemoglobin levels & do a TFT to rule anemia & thyroid disorders if any.
Also relax yourself & take nutritious diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
