Could The Dominant Fluid Filled Lump On The Forehead Be Due To Fractured Skull?

Hello doctor, Some years ago a wooden plaque, weighing a few kilograms, fell from the wall onto my head, just above the left eyebrow. I was asleep when it happened and I believe I slept on a while afterwards. I m unsure whether I was knocked out. You see, I was aware of the hit right away, it obviously woke me up, but hurt as I was I didn t get out of bed immediately and may have dozed off again. Once I got up I iced it for a while, repeatedly, and went to to the doctor in the morning. By then I had what I would call a freakish lump on my head. The doctor didn t seem so freaked out, however. He at no time seemed to consider taking photo s or anything like that. He said to rest and that the swelling would go away. Aside from some queries about memory and dizziness, which I don t suppose you can answer, I wonder about the fact the swelling in fact never fully went away. There is still a ridge of what seems like fluid, clearly discernible when looking at my head. Has this injury been dealt with properly, would you say? Could I have fractured my skull then?

hello ..
thanks for the detailed sequence of incidents..
the doctor who treated hasn't asked for an xray or CT as you dint have any signs or symptoms of Brain injury in that incident..they are like seizure attack or loss of consciousness bleeding from nose or ears and memory disturbances..you dint even have a problem later so that is true..
secondly the fracture in skull..!!
yea there are chances that you had had a hair line fracture at the place of hit..if it was a big or considerable fracture there would be collection of blood with discoloration at that time..generally any fracture in the body including skull fracture heals properly when approximated without leaving any swelling..
in your case the swelling(which was due to fracture or due to local inflammation) has organised to form a small lump..it is very rare to happen..
if you still feel there is a collection get it examined by a surgeon and a USG/CAT scan if required(which is not actually not required as you are asymptomatic- it is purely for cosmetic purpose)
hope this made our doubt clear..
if you have anymore doubts you can discuss with me..
