Could The Drugs Alleviates The Problem Of Eczema Causing Red And Patchy Skin?
Hello Dr, My enquiry relates to eczema & drug use. My step daughter lives with her mother and spends a good majority with her father and I. She has eczema and has had it since about 6-10 months old. While she is with her mother she has bad eczema flares and tends to be red and patchy all over her body. The mother is a cigarette and drug smoker. Her house is always enclosed. When she is with her father and I, we use all natural creams, lotions and bath washes and her skin clears up really good while she is with us. Our house is open and clean. Dust free. No smoking here. She also has many allergies. I want to know, could the mother s drug use be affecting the child s skin and making her eczema worse? Like can the cigarette and drug smoke affect her?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic It is possible that she may be reacting to an allergen in the household or general environment. Allergy testing can determine the source of her reaction. You can speak to her doctor about possible tests. I hope this helps
