Could The Frozen Skin Tag Be Infected If The Pus Is Drained From It?

My family Dr has freeze my skin tag ( size of a pea) and it started to form like a boil and discomforting. So I went to the emergency room since Dr office closed, ER Dr said she can only poke to drain it. She said that is all she can do for me. I am concerned that skin tag will be infected. Should I go back to my family Dr to get help?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to an infection of the skin tag.

I suggest using hydrogen peroxide to clean the area and cover it with an antibiotic cream such as Neosporin.

I also suggest using antibiotics such as Augmentin for systemic treatment.

I recommend using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
