Could The Headache And Fever Related To The Accident That Occurred On The Previous Day?

My 3 yr old son was in a car accident yesterday at 5:30ish pm. Usually quiet w no complaints today was playing normally then randomly laid down saying he was tired with "head hurt". That was about 1p today and since then hasn't eaten and all has wanted to do was lay down and be "lazy" which is not like him. Still complaints of head hurt and crying. Slight fever of 99.5 also. Could this be accident related or possible virus correlated? Thank you

Greetings !

Well irrespective of the magnitude of head trauma, one should always rule out possibility of internal injury to the brain which at times takes time to develop and is not always associated with immediate signs and symptoms.

So if there was a trauma to the head of the child during the accident then the next 48 hours are to be closely monitored and now that he has been having headache and fever and there is an apparent discomfort so this needs to be properly evaluated and examined and investigated by his doctor to rule out any internal brain injury that the boy might have suffered.

So kindly do not hesitate and do not waste any time and take your son to the doctor or to an emergency for proper evaluation and treatment.

I hope this helps.

Regards
