But a lot of odd symptoms have been occuring since the last time my boyfriend and i were sexually active. And we are thinking i may be pregnant. can you help me find this out?

Hello, and I hope i can help you today.

Pregnancy symptoms can vary widely between women, and symptoms such as nausea, breast tenderness, spotting, mood changes and bloating can occur during a regular menstrual cycle, especially if you are stressed from worrying about pregnancy. So it is impossible to diagnose pregnancy based on symptoms alone.

The most common physical sign of pregnancy is missing your period.

If you are not yet late for your cycle, your symptoms could not be due to pregnancy because, even if you just conceived, the level of pregnancy hormone in your blood is not yet sufficient to produce side effects.

So I encourage you to try not to worry about pregnancy unless you miss your period, in which case i recommend performing an over-the-counter pregnancy test according to the package directions.

I am unclear as to why your GYN is waiting for your PAP smear is back to diagnose your genital warts. Genital warts are visible to the naked eye, and look like small bumps, which may be pigmented or skin-colored and they tend to feel rough to the touch. They can be treated with self-applied medications as well as removal in the doctor's office. Even though your boyfriend doesn't appear to have warts, it is best if he is examined by a doctor as they will check him very carefully with a magnifying glass to look for lesions.

I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that this information was ehlpful.

Best wishes,

Dr. Brown
