I am a male age 45 with aching pain in my testicle area when sitting for a long time. I have noticed that my left testicle is smaller than the other and show varicous veins on the left side of my scrotum. Could this be variococele? I was also diagnosed with low testosterone. Can surgery correct this issue and restore my testosterone to a normal level?
Hi. Noted your history well. The cause of the low testosterone is usually not due to varicocele as the varicocele reduces the sperm count alone and usually does not cause the low production . The left testicle could have been small fro a long time causing low testosterone and you may need additional hormone supplementation. For confirming the varicocele, you need to undergo the color doppler tests along with ultrasound. Semen analysis and go for surgery if indicated asap.
