Could The Shortness Of Breath Be Due To Elevated Values Of CK Enzyme And Troponin?
my son in law is 25 years old and he got really short of breath and went to the er where they did bloodwork (ck enzyme, troponin t and troponin i) that came reaaly high and told him he had a massive heart attack. they took him to an acute heart hospital by ambulance where they did a heart cath and he was told he didnt have a heart attack and his heart was strong and was normal for a 25 year old. he has no other health problems. they did find lortab and marijuna in his blookwork. what could have caused his bloodwork to look like he had a heart attack?

Could The Shortness Of Breath Be Due To Elevated Values Of CK Enzyme And Troponin?
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM! I have gone through your question. Elevation of cardiac enzymes (CPK MB and Trop I/t) in a young individual with a normal cath ( angiogram) is usually seen with cocaine intake (its a heart attack like situation). the drug (cocaine) cause intense vasospasm leading to decreased blood supply to the heart leading to damage to heart muscle with subsequent release of enzymes into blood. Hope to have been helpful! Wishing good health, Dr D Sunil Reddy
