Could The Stress Be Causing Low Appetite And Obesity In 65 Year Old?
My husband eats very little everyday a piece of toast- a small salad at lunch and I make a large meal for dinner and he eats just several bites and can not eat anymore- he states he just can not eat anymore. He works hard under stress running a company and 65 yrs old. He is heavy- with a large stomach. But , does not loose any weight. He is real tired also. I feel it is stress that is causing this issue. Can you help? Thanks so much - a concerned wife. He feels full all time.
People generally have lower appetite with the advancing age.
Work related stress and lack of physical exercise is also responsible for affecting the appetite.
If possible give him small snacks packed in different boxes to eat in the office, that are easy to digest with carbohydrates and proteins and less of fat.
Help him de stress by going for an outing on weekends or holidays.
Make sure he sleeps well at night to recover from daily stress.
Do not force him to eat or serve large meals which can kill the appetite after a day's hard work.
Prepare one dish meal which maybe more convenient to have when someone is really not inclined to eat or too tired to enjoy food.
Hope these suggestions will help.
