Could The Swelling On My Knuckle An Indication Of Damaged Tendon?
I injured my knuckle on my right hand( the knuckle closet to the wrist ) on my middle finger. I hit something a month ago and it s been very swollen with a fluid cushioning the knuckle. The knuckle looks twice as big as it should. I had X-rays yesterday and there is no break but they didn t tell me much more than that. It s not much pain I just don t like how it looks. I am curious what to do or I have damaged a tendon? I am 44 yrs old

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the swelling. As xray are negative, it cold b due to soft tissue injury or ligament injury. I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. You may get the MRI of the area affected under his/her guidance. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
