Could The Throat Ache And Dry Mouth Be Due To Hydrogen Peroxide?

Two months ago I had used straight hydrogen peroxide as an oral rinse. I stopped using it after about a week after noticing the texture in my mouth and tongue had changed. It is two months later and my tongue is swollen, I have a constant throat ache, continuos dry mouth and rough texture. Could this still be a side effect of the hydrogen peroxide?

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have dry mouth and throat ache . Well It could be possible that the symptoms you mention in query are due to hydrogen peroxide as its side effects but there can also be the chance of infection like upper respiratory track infection , as infection also cause sore throat and dry mouth . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination and to find out exact cause . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , antiviral or anti allergic drugs depending upon the diagnosis . For now stop using hydrogen peroxide , do warm saline gargles , take bendryl and suck on sugar free candy .
