Could This Be Diverticulitis, Experiencing Abdominal Pain Which Intensifies When Passing Stools Or Bowels?

I am experiencing lower abdominal pain which intensifies when passing urine or using my bowels. The last two days my bowels motions have been explosive and loose almost like diarrhea. This pain is similar to that I experienced in early 2010 which eventually was diagnosed as diaverticulitis.

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

The symptoms are suggestive of a recurrence of diverticulitis, particularly if the pain is in left lower abdomen. In such as event, a 5-7 days' course of metronidazole + Norfloxacin will cure the infection.

Other possibility is concurrent infection of urinary bladder. Get your urine examination done to see for urinary infection, which- if positive- will be cured with a course of appropriate antibiotics.

Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me.
