Could Unilateral Headache On Left Temple Be Due To Caffeine Intake?
I started getting a unilateral headache on my left temple that shoots into my eye. I ve had about 4 episodes so far and yesterday it started as soon as I started to workout. I only get them when I do workout as well. I m not sure if I m not drinking enough water. I feel like I am but maybe my caffeine intake is too high?
When a person has a unilateral headache like that and particularly when it is associated with working out I tend to think of a vascular headache. One that is worsened or brought on when your blood pressure gets elevated. Caffeine certainly would worsen these types of headaches. I have had similar patients with identical symptoms that occurred when they exercised and drank energy drinks for example.
Dehydration also can bring about headaches and drinking additional water may be of use but I do really think this is blood pressure related. You may want to consider minimizing the caffeine and drinking extra water prior to workouts and I have recommended taking Motrin or Aleve prior to exercise to reduce the likelihood of headache occurrence.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
