Could Weight Loss Be A Side Effect Of Taking Humira?
I am a 41 year old female, happily married with a 5 1/2 year old son and a 21 month old son. I am currently on Humira for poriatic arthritis, and taking it for the past 3 months from October 2013 to present. I was 160 pounds in October 2013 and now today (1/14/2014) I am now 135 pounds. I have not changed my eating habits, I am drink A LOT of water. Could this weight loss be from Humira. Believe me, I'm not complaining ;-)

Humira is not known to cause such a significant weight loss. But the temporal relationship between starting Humira and losing weight cannot be ignored. Increase in your mobility after starting Humira may also have contributed to your weight loss. Please also keep in mind that Humira lowers the immunity and makes one prone to developing disorders like tuberculosis which can cause weight loss. So, if you notice any symptoms other than weight loss, please inform your doctor.
