Cramps Like Period Cramps. History Of Removal Of Uterus, Cervix. CT Scan Showed Cyst On Left Ovary, Unable To Find One More Ovary In Ultrasound. Common?
I had a hysterectomy in 2002.Partial, they removed my uterus and cervix only. For the last 2 months or so i have been experiencing what feels equivilent to menstrual cramps. My gyn has confirmed by ct scan that i have a 3cm cyst on my left ovary so she sent me back to have a vaginal ultrasound but it came back as not being able to locate either one of my ovaries. is this a common thing amoungst women who have had hysterectomies and what could it mean?

Hi,
The pain may be due to ovarian cyst. Since you had undergone hysterectomy the main cause I can think is ovarian cyst. The other cause may be infection in the vagina, cystitis which can also present with pain.
You can take a course of NSAID like Ibuprofen 400mg for pain and if you develop any inflammatory signs then need to take antibiotics. Otherwise the NSAID will help you. Follow up with your gynae for further management.
Hope this helps you.
