Dark Pink Patches Slightly Indurated On Tongue, Painful. What Could Be This?

I have 2 large (about 1 cm in diameter) dark pink (only slightly darker than the rest of my tongue) patches. They are not raised but rather slightly indurated or lower than the rest of my tongue tissue. They are painful, flat patches, both on either sides of the tip of my tongue. Just noticed them but they're freaking me out!

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

How long has this been? Has it been for more than two weeks? You do not have to freak out on this. But you need to be cautious. With the description you are giving conditions such as Erythroplakia have to be ruled out. You may have to visit an ENT if these patches have been there for more than two weeks. A biopsy has to be taken, if required.

Sreenivasan
