Dear Anu! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!
Ladies are generally deficient in iron and iron requirement are already increased in pregnancy for two reasons-- Ist is blood formation of baby and IInd is blood formation of mother also. So supplemental iron is given in pregnancy from IInd trimester onwards. Remember that iron is a drug so not given earlier. Excessive iron is not absorbed from GIT and has nothing to do with skin colour of baby or mother.

Greetings!
This question is asked by many young pregnant women
But you can be very comfortable and rest your mind - taking iron tablets is safe from the 14+th week of pregnancy
The growth of the fetus is dependent on the mother's hemoglobin levels. SO if you have good iron levels then you can go through the pregnancy smoothly
The complexion of the child and the colour is genetically determined - comes from the parents
Iron is actually given to most of the patients as Iron deficiency anemia is very common and helps to prevent complications
