Hi Sonam,
Thanks for the query.
An occasional irregular period is not a worrisome issue.
The commonest cause is hormonal imbalance due to lack of proper sleep, sudden
weight loss or excessive exercise. It usually gets corrected by itself by simple measures like
meditation and yoga, regularizing the sleep and a balanced fat and sugar free diet.
Other causes like fibroids, infections and polyps can cause this but they are less likely causes at your age.
I suggest that you wait for another 15 days for the periods to come. If you still do not have periods, take a progesterone like
medroxyprogesterone twice daily for 3 days. Bleeding will begin 3-7 days after completion of treatment.
See if the next cycle is regular without drugs while continuing the lifestyle measures.
If irregular bleeding continues for more than 3-4 cycles, have a serum T3, T4, TSH,
Prolactin testing done along with an
ultrasonography.
I think you will be fine with lifestyle changes as this is a temporary phenomenon.
Thanks for the query and have a good day.
