You have to consult your doctor again for a dose adjustment.
Depression may take 4 to 8 weeks to resolve completely. 50 mg sertraline is probably not a sufficient dose for you.
However, your psychiatrist is the best judge to make a decision about higher doses.
If you have had several previous episodes of depression, it is likely to take more time to resolve, but medications do work.
What medications helped you in your previous episode, it may be a good idea to ask for the same again.
If there are a lot of stresses in your home/ work/ relationships you may consider concurrent psychotherapy along with your medications. Your doctor may guide you to a qualified clinical psychologist for this purpose.

hello,
thanks for using health care magic..
first of all consult your doctor for dose adjusment..
in depression there is lots of variability in different patient's response.. right drug in right dosage can be found by try n error methods.. so be patient for that.. you can increase dose of sertraline or you can change it to venlaflaxin or escitalopram.. BUT DO NOT CHANGE BY YOURSELF CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR FOR CHANGE IN DRUG OR ITS DOSAGE..

do not worry... clinical depression is also just a disease like fever cough cold.. nothing to worry andashamed about in..
beside medication i will suggest you to read motivational books with positive approach towards life, you can try meditation or yoga it will help you to be mentally stable..
hope my answer helped you.. take care
