Diabetic. Darken Vein, Small Lump Inside Elbow. What This Can Be?
I just discovered what looks like darkened vein insider my arm running from wrist to inside of elbow with bruising (black and blue) at inside of elbow. I am type II diabetic and think blood was taken from inside elbow area last week (I have rolling veins so often Dr has to take blood in various different places. At the source of the bruised area there is a small lump.
Hello,
While withdrawing blood sample if the slanted tip of the needle punctures the wall of the blood vessel, there is leakage, which produces the bruise and swelling.
Use warm compresses and take it easy for a few days.
In almost all cases these blood leak bruises disappear entirely within a few weeks.
If you develop pain or if the size of lump increases, then you may consult your doctor as that could mean an infection, and infection in a diabetic should be immediately tackled.
Thanks
