Diabetic, Do Not Suffer From Polyuria Or Polyphagia. On Glycomet. Is That Sufficient?

Hi,

Am a diabetic from last 4 yrs and under medication. Am taking Zoryl M1 and Glycomet 500 mg. My office working hours would be from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm and using the bike for commuting a distance of 17 km one side and 34 km per day. Am a non smoker, non drinker and a vegetarian. In the evening, it will be 9 pm by the time I reach home and tired. No time to exercise. Am not able to maintain the blood sugar level. Please do advise. also would like to know what type of diabetes I have. I have no symptoms of polyuria (frequent urination), polydipsia (increased thirst) and polyphagia (increased hunger).

Hi Dear
Welcome to the HCM
You are suffering with Type II diabetes (NIDDM.Non insulin dependent diabetes).
Blood sugar should be maintained towards the normal recommended level because excess sugar circulating in the blood causes lot of damage to the almost all the organs of the body.

In long run it damages eyes ( retinopathy), kidney (nephropathy) finally renal; failure,Perpheral nerves( Neuropathy) numbness in the foot causes diabetic foot and finally amputation of foot.
Heart attacks is also important long term complication of high blood sugar.

So dear ,please take out some time to exercise to burn the callories and so that in turn reduce the blood sugar level.

Regular check up with your physician so that he can titrate the doses of your antidiabetic drugs to keep the blood sugar level near to normal.

And this all has to be done to prevent and delay these long term, deadly complications.

Hope you will follow your physician with little more regularity.

Thanks
