Diabetic, Has Fluctuating Sugar Levels, Seems To Have Rise In Levels Lately. Will This Cause Black Outs Or Kidney Failure?
A question about whether my buddy/neighbor s condition is in need of immediate MD aid. He s 80 and diabetic and under care of a local MD. His sugar is up at 385, sometimes higher, these past two days when he s usually around 185. I m afraid he s going to black-out or have kidney failure, etc. He s scheduled to see his MD tomorrow ... but will that be too late? Thanks.
HI. YOUR NEIGHBOUR IS SUFFERING FROM UNCONTROLLED HYPERGLYCEMIA. HE RQUIRES THOROUGH WORK UP FOR HIS DIABETIC STATUS BUT THAT NOT AN EMERGENCY. IT CAN BE DONE ON ROUTINE OPD BASIS. BLACKOUTS ARE SEEN IN HYPOGLYCEMIA, A CONDITION IN WHICH BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVEL IS VERY LOW. KIDNEY FAILURE DEVELOPS USUALLY AFTER A LONG STANDING DIABETES, AND IT DEVELOPS GRADUALLY, NOT SUDDENLY IN ONE NIGHT OR SO. BUT BECAUSE DIABETES IS A KIER DISEASE, HE REUIRES PROMPT ATTENTION..I WISH HIM A SPEEY RECOVERY.
THANK YOU
