Diabetic, Hypertensive. Suffering From Appetite Loss, Acidity, Loose Motions. Due To Uncontrolled Sugar Levels?
my 64 yrs old mother is diabetic (20 yrs) and she is also hypertensive. now a days she is frequently sufferingg from loss of appetite, acidity, gas and some times loose motion also. our diabetologist told us due to uncontrolled sugar level peristaltic movement of intestine has been disturbed but we observed that these problems exist in controlled sugar level also. her blood pressure is also rising and she having mild UTI. please suggest what to do next....
Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
No doubt uncontrolled diabetes can give rise to loose motions due to hyper peristaltic movement, but one has to exclude other gastro intestinal pathology associated with diabetes mellitus. With your history of loss of appetite, acidity, gas and sometimes loose motions, I would like to investigate her in the lines of tuberculosis as well which is a common association in patients with diabetes. The rise in blood pressure could be an independent entity as such and so is the UTI, both of which are to be managed in their own light. I would suggest you to discuss with your family physician in the light of the above possibilities and take proper treatment.
