Diabetic, Taking Foltanx, Experiencing Cramps All Over Body. What Can Be Done?

Have been taking Foltanx for a month or so. For the past couple of weeks I have been experiencing cramps which started with finger and hand cramps. Cramps have gotten more severe over over this time and last evening I developed severe crampting in both thighs which left me incapicated and lying on the floor unable to stand for an hour. Cramps subsided. The major change in medication has been the use of Foltanx prescribed because of loss of sensation in my feet from diabetic neuropathy . The increase in cramping has become a major concern. I have a return medical appointment in a couple of weeks but I have been unable to find any literature on Foltanx.

Hello,
The cause of severe muscle crampings in you is directly as a result of uncontrolled diabetes.
Uncontrolled diabetes results in electrolyte disturbances of sodium, potassium, calcium etc.
Uncontrolled diabetes also results in diabetic neuropathy.
There could be additional deficiency if VIT B 12 also.
You must consult a diabetologist and get a proper treatment for him.
FOLTANX is a combination of FOLIC acid with cyanocobalamine and pyridoxine.
A proper management and a meticulous control of your blood sugar levels is the most important part of treatment for you along with replacement of electrolytes.
Thanks

Hi, it appears that you have developed diabetic neuropathy, it means the diabetes is not under control. The cramps also may be due to the neuropathy, and as the neuropathy is coming down, it would have created the cramps. Thank you.
