Diagnosed Genital Herpes. Is Treatment Required Immediately?
My doctor sent test results advising that I have genital herpes. He didn't advise me to follow up with his office. After researching this virus, I feel like I should have some type of treatment or a follow up visit. From my research I don't have an outbreak at this time or didn't have anything present at the time of my visit. I told my physician that I had some problems in the genital area and he suggested the test. When do I go from here??.
Hi, Thanks for writing to us. If you are not having active herpes lesions then you do not need a treatment right now. But when you get an outbreak please consult your dermatologist for prescription of antiviral medicines like acyclovir or valacyclovir. if the immunity is good and if had episodes in past then as such recurrent episodes decrease in number and severity as well. So take treamtnet when required Also keep in mind that herpes is a STD, so use protection during contact with your partner esp when having active lesions Hope this helped.
