Diagnosed Stage 3 Colon Cancer. Spot On Liver Cancerous. Colostomy Due. Cancer Will Be Cured Completely With Chemo?

My husband has been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. They removed a foot of his colon, and 6 out of 12 limp nodes were stage 3 as well. They believe the spot on his liver is cancer also. He has a colostomy and we are to start chemo around the 23rd of this month. What kind of chance is there for the chemo to get all of the cancer. Thanks for your response.

HI
Thank for choosing HCM
Look Mam, to know the type of cancer we are looking for histopathological reports, biopsy reports, scanning reports, all the biochemistry reports, and very important is clinical examination reports along with the clinical history, family history, these all the things we demand to come on prognostic decisions, you better ask this or discus it with oncologist ( Early diagnosis of Malignancy, and treatments gives excellent results ) take care of your husband, Good day.

Oncologist Dr. Monish De's  Response
The goal of chemotherapy in patients with liver only spread that is metastases as in case of your husband is to covert the spot on his liver from unresectable to resectable status called conversion therapy.
Because few cycles of chemotherapy can cause liver damage ,the goal is to balance optimal response with toxicity.
Generally patients receive 2 to 4 months of chemotherapy neoadjuvantly that is chemotherapy before operation followed by operation to remove the liver spot followed by post operative chemotherapy for a goal of approximately 6 months total if there is no residual disease..
Past data have demonstrated 25% patients with completely resected hepatic metastases secondary to colon cancer experience long term survival approaching 50%.
