Diagnosed With Bell's Palsy Within Months Of Being Diagnosed With Diabetes, On Oatmeal. Are They Related?
My father has been diagnosed type 2 diabetic within the last few months and yesterday he was diagnosed with Bells Palsy . Are these related in any way? Also, since he started medication for the Bells Palsy his blood sugar has been averaging 248 all day long. He is eating nothing but oatmeal. What can we do to lower his blood glucose levels?
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
Bells palsy can happen due to a long standing diabetes and atherosclerosis. The treatment of Bells palsy involves steroids which causes the raised blood glucose levels. Steroid doses need to be decreased after consulting your physician.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
