Diagnosed With Cellulitis. Neck And Side Face Red And Swollen With Tender Skin. No Relief After Taking Augmentin
my doctor has diagnosed me with cellulitis. My neck and one side of my face is red and swollen. The skin there is tender. It improves a little it I lie down. I had it for 2 days before I saw the doctor on Friday. I have been taking Augmentin 500 mg 2x a day ( 2 doses so far) not much change. Actually redder than before. How will I know if it is going septic? I have a headache and feel sleepy now.
I think you may be having erysipelas. It is a streptococcal infection of the skin. There may be reddish patch on face extending to neck with pain, tenderness, high temperature, fatigue, weakness etc.. Take azithromycine 500 mg twice a day for 1 to 2 weeks along with anti inflammatory drugs like nimesulide. Take rest for few days. You may be alright. Consult dermatologist. I hope you got my answer. Thanks.
