Diagnosed With Hypothyroidism. Taking Synthroid. Had Miscarriages. Worried? Medical Cure For This?
I have recently had two chemical pregnancies back to back. I also was diagnosed with hypothyroidism after having my daughter in 2011 and am currently taking synthroid. We are trying to figure why I miscarried in the same manner back to back. I researched and found that high prolactin levels, hypothyroidism, and miscarriages are linked. I have signs of having high prolactin levels........I've been able to express milk STILLfrom my nipples when squeezed. I quit breastfeeding 14mo ago. Today I had my prolactin levels tested today and am currently waiting for results. My question is could I be right in thinking my levels are high and causing me to miscarry early. So far everything ckd out. Thyroid levels are fine and so is my progesterone.
Hi, Thanks for writing to us. Yes, high prolactin levels and hypothyroidism if uncontrolled can cause miscarriage, so you should consult a gynaecologist for medication for hypothyroidism and high prolactin levels. If you conceive in future you should continue your pregnancy under supervision of a doctor. You should start folic acid also. Good luck. Take care.
