Dear concerned.,
Thanks for writing to us.
Migraine is caused by cerebrovascular congestion brought about by a gradual increase in the concentration of
neurotransmitter substances such as serotonin in particular areas of brain.
Migraine is characterised by a triad of (1) Prodrome;- a feeling of flashes of light/abnormal smell etc indicating that there would be an attack of migraine. In addition an impending attack may be characterised by a feeling of Aura.(2)A positive family history of migraine in first degree relatives.(3) vomitting almost always relieves the migrainous attacks.
Various medicines have been tried for the control of acute attacks to completely cure the condition with varying degrees of success.
From
paracetamol,beta blockers,ergot alkaloids,to phenothizines such as
promethazine and flunarizine have been tried with long term therapy and results varied.
Pls
consult a Neurologist for a detailed work up of Migraine including special imaging investigations such as CT scan /MRI to come to a definitive diagnosis of what exactly in brain is causing migraine such as Cerebro vascular AVMs/Aneurysms/SOL.
The paroxysmal
temporal headache radiating to eyes could be a manifestation of migraine.
Get your eyes also checked up for Refractory Errors as Myopia/
Hypermetropia and Astigmatism also cause headache due to stress and strain on extra ocular
muscle fatigue.
Wishing you a Speedy Recovery.,
Best Regards.,
