Diagnosed With Vitiligo Which Was Treated With Prednisone. Skin Becoming Lighter. How Do I Salvage The Pigmentation?

I am a black South African and have been diagnosed with vitiligo 2 months ago. I'm treated with prednisone for 7 days in 3 months and dovet. Seems my skin is getting more lighter. I'm getting frustrated as it seem to be moving to the face How can I salvage the pigmentation that is left now.

White patches of vitiligo are slow to respond. I would advice that you continue with the prescription and follow up with your dermatologist at regular intervals.

Your dermatologist can modify or change treatment depending on the response.

Various treatment options are available to treat white patches like Topical steroids, tacrolimus ointment/solution, basic fibroblast growth factor solution, topical and oral psoralens, Narrow band UVB etc
