Dimple Formed On Child's Cheek After Colliding With Concrete Wall. Will The Imbedded Mass Remain?
Hi, About 2 weeks ago my 5 year old son collided at speed with a low concrete wall. He still has a slight residual bruise just under his cheek bone, but more concerningly, it has left a 'dimple' in his cheek that's sometimes obvious when he eats or smiles. There is a small pea sized mass imbedded in the cheek area which I'm guessing is a haematoma. I'm worried that he's stuck with this indent forever! I would be pleased to hear your ideas. Thanks, Coral.
The pea sized lump is likely to be scar tissue that has formed as a result of a trauma. The scarring can pull on the skin and can cause the dimple that you are seeing.
Remodelling of scar tissue can occur and it can decrease but this takes time. It can take weeks to months , or even longer in some cases, for scarring to resolve.
