Dizziness, Lightheadedness. History Of Surgery. Popping Sound In Head. Related?

For the past six months I've been experiencing what seems like dizzy spells or bouts of lightheadedness. I had surgery three weeks ago on my tonsils, sinuses, deviated septum, etc. I thought the dizzy spells had gone away but they are slowly coming back. Something new has started to happen. For the past four nights I've woken up from a loud bang or popping sound, clearly in my head, as nothing was going on around me to cause the noise. I've read a little about exploding head syndrome and vertigo and I'm wondering if it is all truly related?

Hi and thanks for the query,

Considering the fact that this problem is new, appearing in from a distance with respect to the surgery, I am afraid they might not actually be related. This should certainly be a new problem, or under some rare circumstances, a complication of surgery or something. I strongly think due your delicate case, it is very wise to get an appropriate reevaluation in time and management. Dizziness and the symptoms described could certainly be due to a lesion within the inner ear canals. Drugs taken at times could be responsible.

I suggest you consult your ENT specialist,
Regards,
Bain LE, MD.
