Do Glucophage XR And Metformin Have The Same Effects?

Good morning Dr.Please advice, I had a Laproscope done because my gynea found out that my Egg cells was blocked and also that my Body was insulin resistant. She suggested I use Metformin to help loose weight and also because I am trying to fall pregnant with Baby number 3. I have been using Duromine for 1 month now, have not lost weight and no side effects. Can I use Glucophage with Duromine and how often should I take Glucophage XR. Would like to know if Glucophage XR and metformin the same thing.

I have gone through your query.You can go on with metformin.Glucophage XR is metformin sustained realease (extended release) preparation.If you use that you will get long duration of action with even 1 time intake.But if you take just plain metformin you have to take like 3 times a day to get that extended benefit.You can opt for any of this which is comfortable after discussing with your doctor.Duromine,if you can tolerate then can continue.Some get side effects like lack of sleep mood disturbances and loss of libido by using this.Hope this may help you.
