Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A friend is in alcohol rehab (wine) and completing Intensive Out-Patient treatment following detox as in-patient. Takes Lomotil, Lexapro and Vistaril. Takes no other drugs. Lab test one month after last drink is reporting positive for Oxazepam 486 against cut-off of 200). Is Oxazepam in one of the three drugs she takes?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Lomotil contain atropine and diphenoxylate. Lexapro and visartil contain escitalopram and hudroxyzine as active ingredients respectively. So the source of oxazepam is from somewhere else. Some country beverages breweries add oxazepam to increase the kick of the drink. You can check that way.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
