I recently started taking lisinopril for cardiomyopathy which is further being diagnosed by an additional echo. I also take lyrica and gabapentin for other issues. i noticed that these drugs can have moderate interaction with the generic of lisinopril. Do you have an opinion on this topic?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Lyrica is a brand name of Pregabalin. Using Pregabalin and Gabapentin together with Lisinopril may cause angioedema, a condition associated with swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, throat, and occasionally also the hands and feet. It is a rare condition and generally develops on first dose. You can try combining them and if you don't develops symptoms then you will not develop angioedema in future and you can safely take them as usual.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
