Do Metformin And Ginette For PCOS Need To Be Taken Lifelong?
Hi..I have been diagnosed with mild PCOS.My doc has precribed me metformin n ginette 35.Also I am on aldactone 100 for last 3 months. Now my concern is if I start the medication will it be for lifetime? In case not then.. are there any sideeffects after leaving the medication-(I mean on completion of the treatment if I stop the medication will the symptoms of PCOS reoccur)?
Hello I think there are few misconception in your mind about PCOS . As you are advised metformin, ginette and you are also taking aldactone 100 mg for last 3 months . Cysts are often caused by hormone changes . Using ginette and metformine can sometimes help regulate hormone levels, so that the cysts can be taken care of. Your doctor will likely want you to come back after you have been on these tablets to see if the cyst is gone. At that time doctor may suggest you stop using the medication or if indicated you may need to continue it for a bit longer. So this is ( treatment is not for life long ) a complete treatment and once cyst is gone , no need of any treatment . Usually these drugs don't have major side effects and you can tolerate but if side effects are minor need not to worry. So take treatment as advised by your doctor. Good luck.
