Do Antibiotics Taken For Streptococcus Infection Affect The Menstrual Cycle?

Good day. I have been TTC for 4months now, i did abdominal scan and it was good only for the presence of tiny growth of uterine fibriod. I also did viginal swap and i was diagnosed of streptococus which i used antibiotics for 10days. During the month i used the drug i noticed i ovulated earlier because my period came 2days before i was expecting. Could the drug be the cause? I av been on folic acid for abt 3months now and i want to take ovacare to maintain my period and ovulation. Is it advisable?

Hi,

Antibiotics taken during the period can prolong the period or can cause a spotting after the period is finished. This usually stops after you finish taking the antibiotic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rakhi Tayal,
