Do Elderly Colon Cancer Patients Find It Difficult To Stay Awake?

My Mother is 72 and has been diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer that has spread to liver, spleen. She has good days and bad days. We have had several good days lately. But the last couple of days she is finding it very difficult to stay awake to the point where if she is sitting down she immediately falls asleep. Unsteady on her feet as well. Is this normal?Thank you, Debbie Burns

Hello,
This often happens when there is advanced metastatic cancer. The cancer and sometimes the treatments can cause an enormous amount of fatigue. If this is a new change then you should call the doctor's office and let them know. They may want to see her in the office to check on an exam and some blood work.
